Large scale production of lentiviral vectors

Vectalys is now offering the possibility to produce customized lentiviral vectors at a large scale (up to 25ml) in Vectalys Premium quality. The process timeline for a large scale batch is as short as for a small scale batch. This new offer opens the way to new perspectives and allows to meet our customer needs from basic research to pre-clinical assays.

Applications of large scale lentiviral vector productions

The emergence and popularity of lentiviral vectors in preclinical and clinical research brings pharmaceutical companies to consider large volumes of highly concentrated and purified lentiviral vectors for many therapeutic applications such as inherited genetic diseases, CAR T cells or gene editing based therapies. These applications are bringing new hopes to cure cancer or rare diseases:

  • Pre-clinical gene therapy assays (immunotherapy, gene editing, inherited genetic diseases)
  • Animal diseases modelling (vaccination, metabolic disorder, other models…)

Vectalys provides large-scale lentiviral vector productions (from 5 to 25ml) with the same quality and purity as small scale Vectalys Premium batches. As a result, the same premium lentiviral vector composition can be used from research to clinical assays.

Large scale lentiviral vectors

In gene therapy development, assays are first performed on immortalized cells and must be further translated to primary cells and tissues before in vivo experiments take place. All these assays consume a large quantity of vectors.

The image below represents an estimated number of transductions one could perform with each scale of lentiviral vector batches, on HEK293T and T lymphocytes. For example, a single 25ml batch of highly purified and concentrated lentiviral vectors, allows to perform 5000 transductions of HEK293T cells.
